The Surrey Heath Assembly is one of the first DD&SA pilot assemblies in the UK. It brings together a randomly selected group of residents to examine local issues in depth, hear evidence, and publish recommendations that the wider community can vote on.
This assembly focuses on three core themes identified by residents:
30 residents selected by sortition, balanced across age, sex, geography, and socioeconomic background.
Four sessions over six weeks, combining expert presentations, resident testimony, and structured deliberation.
A full report, evidence pack, and a set of recommendations for public voting.
These documents will be available once the assembly publishes its findings:
Once the assembly publishes its recommendations, Surrey Heath residents will be invited to vote directly on the proposed options. This ensures that the final decision reflects both informed deliberation and broad public legitimacy.
